This course examines (dis)Ability from a critical, anti-oppressive, social constructivist, rights-based lens, focusing primarily on three areas: (dis)Ability identities – how they are constructed, perceived, and taken up within an ableist world; examining the historical and current day (dis)placement of people with (dis)Abilities; and policy into practice implications, ranging from grassroots (dis)Ability organizations to government legislation.
